On March 17, 2009, the honesty and integrity of both the Canadian legal system and the Government of Canada will be put to the ultimate test. Former United States President, George W. Bush, has been invited to speak at a private conference held at the TELUS Convention Center to a group of Calgary's business elite on March 17, 2009. (3) Former President Bush likely picked Calgary as his first stop due to the fact that Calgary is a highly conservative and "pro-American" city according to David Taras, a University of Calgary political science professor. (6)

A visit from a former US president may not seem out of the ordinary to many Canadian citizens, but to those who are aware of the allegations of the Bush Administration and their crimes against humanity in Afhganistan, Iraq, and Guantanamo Bay, including torture, enforced disappearance, mental and physical trauma, forced sexual acts, solitary confinement, force feeding through unsterilized and re-used feeding tubs, loss of "privileges" such as toothpaste, toothbrush, soap, and blankets for no apparent reason and excruciating torture resulting in death, are just a few of the things that the Bush Administration not only allowed but encouraged. In 2004, former US President George W. Bush came to Vancouver on an international visit. The Group LAW or Lawyers Against the War filed charges against him for several counts of crimes against humanity. In court, the judge ruled that Bush had "immunity" as he was a current political leader.

It is stated on the Canadian Department of Justice's website under the Canadian Crimes Against Humanity and War Crimes Program that "The policy of the Canadian Government is unequivocal:  Canada is not and will not become a safe haven for persons involved in war crimes, crimes against humanity or other reprehensible acts regardless of when or where they occurred."

So why is it then, that George W. Bush will be allowed to illegally enter Canada, or OUR city rather, on March 17, 2009?

George Bush will be at the Telus Convention Center on March 17, 2009. Please join Calgarians who believe George Bush should be put to justice for his crimes against humanity.
